Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Septys
    5 stars

A young girl and her family are stolen in the middle of the night and shipped to a labor camp during Stalin’s reign of terror in the USSR. The main character does not know what has happened to her father and she must watch after her brother and mother. After hard-work in a labor camp, they suddenly find themselves shipped off to Siberia in the middle of winter with little to wear and find themselves losing hope of surviving. What will happen to them?

I really loved this book. I have always been a fan of Holocaust stories and what Stalin did to the Lithuanians is similar to what Hitler did to the Jews during the Holocaust. The character is very easy to relate to and her story is one of survival, hope, and loss. I think everyone can relate in one way or another to her.

This book is about a girl named Lani and her best friend, Erin. Erin starts dating this guy named Jason. When Lani meets Jason, they have an instant connection. Then, Erin goes to summer camp for two months. Lani and Jason have almost all summer to be together. Then everything goes wrong for Lani.

What I liked most about this book is that it is very relatable. Things like this could really happen to anyone. I really like the way it is written, kind of like Lani is talking about what happens.

My book was about this boy named Rodney who just moved to a new school and had to face this bully named Josh. When they was at the playground everybody crowded around to see Josh beat up Rodney,a airplane had flew over and everybody was looking up at it,when nobody wasnt looking a baseball flew in the air and hit Josh in his face. The baseball had rolled under a bush and everybody looked at Josh whose nose was bleeding and Rodney was standing up. Everybody thought Rodney had beat up the school bully but he really didnt and now Josh was scared of him….for now. But everything Rodney does it always has a good outcome and everybody thinks he did it but he really didnt.

    Invisible by Cecily Anne Paterson

    4 stars

Invisible is a really good book! The main character, Jazmine is deaf and a lot of people make fun of her. Jazmine was hanging out with the wrong crowd which almost got her suspended because they completely destroyed the drama theater. The two mean girls got suspended but she did not! Instead of being suspended she had to help the teacher with drama when she landed a role as the main character in the play. Then trouble struck and the mean girls came back. What will happen? You’ll find out if you read INVISIBLE!

I loved Invisible! I liked how her troubles could happen to anyone! Jazmine was bullied which happens a lot in middle and high school. She was hanging out with the wrong crowd at the beginning of the book which almost got her suspended thats another thing that happens in middle and high school. I really love this book and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested!

A Dog’s Journey Another Novel for Humans by Bruce Cameron

First of all the story is told from a dogs point of view. The dog wants to find her human. The dog’s name is Molly who before that was called Buddy. Molly has to go through a lot of conflicts to find her perfect human. For example Molly has to be trapped in the basement of a home so she can live. Molly also does some awesome things too. She gets a job and help save people from dying.

The story is very good. The book kept my attention the whole time. Every time I started to read it I never wanted to put the book down. I really enjoyed how it told from a dogs point of view. It made me think how the dogs think about everyday stuff.

Stickman Odyssey An Epic Doodle by Christopher Ford

    5 stars

Stickman Odyssey was about a stickman named Zizimos going on a quest to find revenge on a place called Sticatha. He lands on an island thinking he’s home at Sticatha but he is really on an island of sardines, and he saw these beautiful Maidens. Zizimos scared the Maidens and the guards took him to jail for 500 years. When he found out he was in jail so long he tried to make up a lie saying he was the king of Sticatha to get out of the place. The king of the sardine palace made him tell a story about how he got there. Zizimos said that his dad was the king and he saw a women and made her queen and she was really a witch. She killed Zizimos dad and turned all his brothers and sisters into black and purple crows. He escaped before she turned him into a crow. and he said on his journey he battled against an ancient greek half lion half human thing made out of sand.

I liked when Zizimos lied to the king of the sardines to try and get out of the palace. It was funny when he got to the palace he said the water taste like pee. also it was cool when he battled against the non living and the crazy animals. It was one of my favorites.

You Know Where to Find Me by Rachel Cohn

Let just say that once upon a time, sleeping beauty decided to take a nap in which she’ll never wake up.The main character, Miles, has spent her whole life in the shadow of her cousin, Laura. Laura is the golden one-smart, gorgeous, rich, and popular-while Miles considers herself the unwanted one, an unattractive, underachieving social outcast. As far as Miles is concerned, Laura has the perfect life…until Laura commits suicide, leaving Miles in the wake of the event. Losing Laura shatters Miles and sets her on a dangerous downward spiral. When she hits rock bottom, Miles must make a choice: She can escape from it all, like Laura did, or she can look for strength in herself and in those she didn’t believe cared about her, and try to find a reason to live.

I really enjoyed this book because I’m one for realistic fiction and all that jazz. I thought it was very sad that Laura killed herself. I wont tell you why because then I would be giving away the book! I really recommend this book to readers everywhere that love drama!

Liselle went to a party in the summer and fell in love a boy named “Roger.” He took her to his room and they made out and the next day she went back and they ended up having relations. She had took a pregnancy test. She found out she was pregnant , and didn’t want to tell her mother. She ended up fainting in school and her mother figured out and her mother started fussing at her , so she ran away to her dad’s house. She ended up finding out he didn’t want her there , so she ran to her cousins house. Her cousin already had a baby , and she made Liselle feel like it wasn’t hard but her aunt went on a date , and left Liselle and her cousin with the baby. Her cousin left and went out with some friends. Liselle didn’t know how to take care of a baby , she never stayed wiht one by herelf before.

I liked that it was trying to teach a lesson and that it’s not easy to take care of a baby. It’s not just bathing , feeding , and birping the child. It’s life changing , and that book makes it clear that it’s not easy at all. Being a teen mom is not fun you can’t really party with friends.

Blue is for nightmares by Laurie faria stolarz

    5 stars

I just finished reading Blue is for Nightmares by laurie stolarz. I really enjoyed this book because it kept me in suspense and wanting more. The main character is Stacey brown she calls herself a “witch” because she has Premonitions(nightmares that become true) . Inside stacey’s nightmares she predicts death for someone very close to her, Stacey has to stop her nightmare before it becomes true or will her she lose a loved one?

What i liked about this book was that every once in a while they would have a lead on who was trying to kill stacey’s friend and then it would switch up and make you change your mind. This book makes you wanna never put it down and at some points makes you wanna cry. it’s very thrilling and keeps you on your toes! i loved ever minute of it!

This book was about a girl named who Fiona who woke up one day and found that her life was in pieces. When she woke up the first thing she noticed, was that the house was completely silent. The second thing she noticed was that she had a weird tattoo on her hand. When she went to the bathroom she noticed that she was not herself anymore she had aged 4 years while sleeping! While she was investigating she heard someone climbing up the stairs. She looked out the bathroom to see who it was and saw a beast-like creature. It had hair all over it’s body and had finger nails that looked like claws.

I liked this book because it starts off with a bang. Like in the beginning she wakes up and gets attacked by a monster. This book is a must read for people who like Science fiction books with lots of adventure.

Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender

    4 stars

Bad Girls Don’t Die is about a girl named Alexis and her younger sister Kasey. Alexis is an outsider and is somewhat goth. Kasey is 13 and has a very huge collection of dolls, she doesn’t like when anyone messes with them, even her best friend! An evil doll posses’s Kasey. The spirit of the doll, Sara makes Kasey’s eyes turn green, use old time language, and much more. Alexis starts to realize these changes and needs help from her friend Megan, the head cheerleader to destroy the doll and get her little sister back to normal. In the midst of all this Alexis finds her self falling for a very school prep boy, Carter. Read to find out.

I liked this book because I normally don’t read at home but this book I was reading for at least two hours at my house. I had to put it down at night because I was just a bit frightened to read it at night. The details make you feel like you are there. This book had just the right amount of spooky, family bonding and love. I am looking forward to reading the sequel ” From Bad to Cursed ”

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
    5 stars

The book starts off following this girl Hazel who has cancer and has to carry around an oxygen tank so that she can breath correctly. Anyway, she is at a support group meeting, which she absolutely dreads, and meets a guy named Agustus Waters, who had cancer in his leg until he had it amputated. Well, Hazel and Agustus really start to like each other and they both have common interests, primarily books. They start to tell each other about books that they liked and they both begin to really enjoy each others company. Later on in the book there is a huge bombshell that changes everything! What will happen to the happy couple?

I really liked this book because I became attched to the characters and when something happened to them it felt, in a weird way, close to home. The character brings in ideas that many people have but don’t say about cancer, love, life, death and sorrow which, quite literally, brought a tear to my eye. The relationship between the two main characters feels more real than in any other book that I’ve ever read. It’s also about a topic that many people have been affected by. Core 4

This book is about a girl named Evyn and her dad just told her that he found someone and that he was getting married. Evyn’s mom died when she was one so she really didn’t have anyone there to teach her the girly things about life so her dad had to. When Evyn meets her new family she finds out that she has her real brother plus 5 extra sibblings. She is forced to move in with them and leave her bestfriend behind. Evyn also has to go to a new school. Some things happen with her at school. At first she really didn’t like her new family because she thought that his dads wife was tring to hard to be her friend. At the end after she takes some time away from them she comes home and learns that her new family really does love her. She begins to love them too. I really loved this book.

I liked the fact that she finds out that having a new family was not so bad.She learns that her new family really cares for her.I like the fact that her step mom was trying to help her through this . Evyn thought that she was trying too hard but at least she cared about her feelings.

    Lush by Natasha Friend
    4 stars

The book “Lush” is about a thirteen year old girl and her family with her alcoholic father. It deals with how she copes with her life around her father. She seeks help from a total stranger by writing notes since she is ashamed to tell her friends about her dad’s problem. In some parts of “Lush” it gets really depressing when her father does certain things and harms the rest of her family. It also surprises me when the main character does something that reminds her of her dad. Overall it’s an interesting book to read and leaves you feeling happy at the end of the book.

What I liked most about “Lush” was that even though lots of things happened to her she didn’t give up.I liked that her character was easy to relate to even though she is in a situation that I’ve never been through. Overall I give this book 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it since the book isn’t perfect and it did get annoying at one part.

Looking for Alaska by John Green

Miles has exciting friends, including the very interesting Alaska Young. Though after the “incident” nothing is the same for Miles and his friends adventures of pranking at Culver Creek and is faced with this question, how do we get out of the labirinth?

What I liked most about this book is how the main character Miles goes looking for the Great Perhaps. By going to Culver Creek I feel like Miles got to let go,make friends, and be a teenager after his boring life in Florida. I really admire Miles for seeking his Great Perhaps. He really inspired me to seek my own. That is what I like the most.

This is a book about a young boy named Ben McBain who is 11 years old that is really short and really wants to play quarterback for his team . But the coaches won’t let him . The reason why is that he is to short and doesn’t have the size to play that position . So Ben tries to prove to the coaches he has the skill to play that position . The Fire by James Patterson
    4 stars

The Fire is the third book in the trilogy Witch and Wizard. This series is about the Allgood family (Wisty, Whit, and their parents). Whit and Wisty’s parents are wizards, but they don’t tell them. During this time a new ruler is taking over the world. He makes everyone call him The One Who Is The One, or The One for short The One is an evil man who brainwashes children and adults to obey him and his every command. But The One banishes many things such as music, art, books, instruments, and other day-to-day objects. One night when the Allgood family is asleep, The One’s federal troops storm into their house and takes Whit and Whisty to a top-notch and guarded jail, and he also charges them for being a witch and wizard. The reason why The One wants all witches and wizards is so he can drain their power out of them, and use it for himself so he becomes stronger.Their parents are taken too, but they don’t know where they have taken them. From there, Whit and Wisty figure out their powers, try to stand up against The One, and find their parents before it is too late. Will they find their parents before they get killed? Will The One be taken down by Whit and Wisty? Will they even survive? Find out by reading the trilogy Witch and Wizard.

I liked this book/series because when you think the action has died down and the main characters get to rest, another big event happens that they need to be apart of. Also, I think the story overall is a very good story. I also love how Whit and Wisty Allgood are always standing up for each other and for others. I recommend this book for anyone who loves action, fantasy, and magic.
